Solar House
Situated on a triangular corner site with a frontage that spans 150 ft, this all-electric, nearly net-zero, two-story, single-family residence takes its shape from the outline left from a previous home’s foundation. Its three distinct volumes define public and private interiors, each facing intimate gardens at the building’s perimeter. The central volume is a double-height space with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that maximizes daylight while the two adjacent volumes provide for sleeping and study functions. The primary material of the exterior of the home is brick to blend in with its context in this established Chicago neighborhood.
