Opportunity: Roosevelt University sought a long-term development plan that would serve as a guideline for future reorganization of their main campus, housed in the 400,000 square foot historic Auditorium Building, originally designed by Louis Sullivan.
Solution: The Plan explored programming options and prioritized the phases of development in order to address the University’s goals. Goals included the improvement of physical and electronic information resources, the inclusion of more areas for student and faculty interaction, and the conservation and reinforcement of the uses of interior historic spaces to serve the University’s contemporary functional requirements. Critical to the plan was construction phasing and the maintenance of existing operations and services.
Value: A comprehensive, three-dimensional graphic model illustrates horizontal and vertical adjacencies. The plan allowed the University to better analyze options, including teaching, administrative and staffing needs, as well as to evaluate the impact of historic renovation requirements.
